Tiprasa youth to become the first Mr Northeast

Tiprasa youth to become the first male pageant winner of the Northeast region.

One may not know what a Male pageant is, so a Male pageant is a competition in which the entrants, usually male/female, are judged as to physical look and sometimes personality and talent, with the winners awarded prizes or titles. Man of the World Pageant is considered one of the "Big 6" international male beauty pageants along with Mister World, Mister International, Manhunt International, Mister Supranational, and Mister Global.

There has to be an initiative taken by Mega Entertainment—the events like Garnier Men Mega Mister North East. Organised by the leading pageant organiser of the region, Mega Entertainment, the auditions witnessed the participation of contestants from across Northeast India. Before this, auditions were conducted in Itanagar, Tezpur, Kokrajhar, Agartala, Shillong and Imphal.

Through these auditions, the pageant organisers selected 50 men and 80 women from across the eight Northeast states, who will vie for the coveted titles of Sunsilk Mega Miss North East 2023 and Garnier Men Mega Mister North East 2023 12th edition of Beardo Mega Mister Northeast at Guwahati scheduled for January 28 and 29. The event is supported by Mega Brands like Sunsilk, and Hotel Daysco and is organised under the aegis of Mega Entertainment and the brainchild of fashion entrepreneur Abhijit Singha since its inception in 2003.

A youngster Tiprasa from Dhalak, Amarpur, Tripura whose name is Adong Jamatia,21 S/o Barendra Jamatia has brought the title of mister Northeast 12th edition through the competitions organised by MEGA MISTER NORTHEAST happened in Guwahati.

He is from the Jamatia tribe of the Tiprasa community and is for the upliftment of the community. He also has a round where he wore and represented the ethnicity of the cultural dress in the event.

Jamatia is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration at Holly college, Lembucherra Agartala and will be passing out in 2023 with a Graduation.

In an interview with him, Jamatia talked about his inspirations and his introduction to the field.

“There was none who directly influenced him but he had interests in fashion and male pageants since before but during the covid 19 lockdown. He was more involved in the Internet which got him more deeply into this field by which he got to understand many more things about the field"

— says Jamatia.

The Internet which first caught his eye about grooming is the Youtube channel named ALEX COSTA, a YouTuber who influences people to dress well-fashioned and about male grooming. It was his first look up to and then later he was introduced to Mithun Debbarma, the former winner of Rubaru Mr India. They both now exchange good bondings together. Jamatia looks up to his tips and does his betterment in the field of fashion, grooming etc. "I liked both he wanted to do both, but yah first I gave a try on a beauty pageant," says Jamatia.

Adong Jamatia is also a Dancer representing the community of break dancing aka Bboying and also a singer sometimes.

Since he was pretty new to this field he was Introduced to events like Mega mister northeast by one of the other dancers named Shantanu Debbarma, who was also a contestant among the winners of the states. He introduced Jamatia along with Subrata Mog, who was also a known brother to him at the event. They guided him till the end of the session, believing in him and that he would make it. So he just obeyed them till the end which lead him to take the title of Mr Northeast.

He also mentioned that he gave the first audition blindfolded but turned out to be getting selected and then from the second round till the end he was serious and focused on winning the title.

Apart from Adong Jamatia, there are also winners of the Tripura state who won the state qualification and represented in the bigger stage of Mega Mister Northeast. The two other winners were Shantanu Debbarma and Pushpita Murasing, who illustrated fully to the stage and made the Tripura state proud.

“Since it's the internet era, there are many ways to connect with people from different places so it has become straightforward to connect with anyone in this world. Hence I, you or anyone could pursue what they want easily and be the best representing their native place making the people proud.”
